Privnote awarded the Europrise certification

We're very proud to announce that Privnote, our site for sending private notes securely over the Internet, has led us to became the first Latin American company, and the second company outside Europe (after Microsoft), being awarded the prestigious European Privacy Seal by EuroPrise, an initiative led by the Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz (ULD), the data protection authority of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The certification couldn't come at a better time, given that Privacy seems like a lost right in the Internet these days. With Privnote, you can leave your most sensitive information out of Facebook and Google.

You can try the certified site at https://certified.privnote.com

For more information about the certification, see this page.

Finally, if you're wondering how Privnote works, you can read the explanation on this page. The client-side encryption (barely mentioned in the comments) is already implemented and was deployed more than a year ago.

Hello Posterous!

We have just moved Insophia blog to the Posterous platform which provides just the right set of features we need, and their default theme looks very similar to our almost-3-year-old homepage. Kudos to the Posterous team for the good taste and for making such a nice blogging platform, we're looking forward to see them adding even more features and improvements, but it's perfectly fine for us as it is right now.

You can expect many posts about Scrapy coming soon, as we plan to use this channel for telling the world what we're working on, and Scrapy definitely fits into that category. At the moment we're about to publish the first release candidate of Scrapy 0.9. Our current stable release (0.8) has become pretty old by now - we hope to start releasing more often after 0.9.

Stay tuned for more info!

Hi everyone, we are very happy to announce the launch of Privnote, a web tool for sending private notes over the Internet, written in Python and Django. For more information check the About page or go straight to the home page to start sending notes. It’s available in both English and Spanish, and it’s totally free of charge and ads.

Needless to say, comments and requests for improvements are more then welcome.

Finally, a huge thanks to everyone in our team who made this possible.

UPDATE: in this page you can find more information about how Privnote works, if you’re interested.

Genesis

Finally, here we are! This is the first blog post and also the official announcement of Insophia launch.

Here is where we’ll tell the world about our achievements and mistakes, about the choices we made, why we made it, and the things we learn on the way. Starting up a technology company is a hard thing to do in the current highly competitive market, but we believe that doing a great job will make you stand out above the crowd, and that’s our goal.

Currently we’re working on a very exciting and challenging Web 2.0 project that will launch very soon, although we can’t give any details now.

We’re a group of people committed to produce good software and outstanding solutions. We believe in the open source development model and so, as long as our customers agree, we plan to release all our software (both in-house and commercial) under a free license.
